Education and Professional Training
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Psychology from California State University, Chico, and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Sonoma State University, graduating magna cum laude with both degrees. My education strengthened my language, research, critical-thinking, and communication skills, along with the attentive listening and understanding of context that are essential to accurate transcription.
I completed professional transcription training through General Transcription Bootcamp and earned a certificate of completion for Legal Transcription: Solo Career. My legal transcription training included legal terminology, transcript formatting, court proceedings, depositions, attorney dictation, confidentiality, and professional transcription practices.
Earlier in my career, I worked as a word processor for five years. The position included substantial editing of professional reports, strengthening my ability to identify errors, improve clarity, maintain consistent formatting, and prepare polished documents.
Professional Background
My professional background includes mortgage lending, real estate, property management, and running several self-employed businesses. During my 16 years in the mortgage industry, I helped hundreds of clients become homeowners, often working through challenging
loan situations that required careful research,
problem-solving, and close attention to detail.
Throughout my lending and real estate career, I continued developing my skills through professional courses and coaching. These experiences helped me communicate clearly, understand client needs, and approach complex work thoughtfully and systematically.
Working with detailed financial and legal documents taught me the importance of accuracy, discretion, and meeting deadlines. I bring that same care and sense of responsibility to every transcription project

In 2015, while working full time as a mortgage loan officer, I wrote and self-published How To Make Money Renting a Room in Your Home: The Guide to Finding the Right Tenants and Managing the Landlord-Tenant Relationship.
Writing and publishing the book further developed my appreciation for clear language, careful editing, thorough research, and the importance of presenting detailed information in an organized and understandable way.
